"The role of an end-of-life doula is defined as someone who provides companionship, comfort, and guidance to those planning for death, diagnosed with a terminal illness, or facing imminent death. Doulas offer nonmedical holistic support encompassing emotional, spiritual, and practical care." INELDA
I am happy you 'landed' here!
Although I have worked as a mental health therapist since 2001 in Olympia, Washington, I just finished an intensive End of Life Training with INELDA, the International End of Life Association.
I have much to learn. I am a true beginner in this field, and I will be in a very different role than my role as a therapist.
I welcome your interest, your questions or concerns. I suggest that one way for anyone to get started 'talking about death and dying' is at Death Cafes. Death Cafes are places where people can gather to talk about all the many aspects of death and dying.
(If you Google Death Cafe Olympia, for instance, you will see about three options locally.)
My participation in a Death Cafe two years ago was what really set me on this path of being curious about death and dying. And again, ALL the aspects of death and dying.
So...all this to say I am a beginner on this path. I welcome questions. My contact information is below.
"We are all walking each other home." Thank you, Ram Dass.
